Neat Freak

That I'm not. We've lived in this house for six months now. Last night, for the very first time, I swept and mopped the downstairs bathroom, the one in the basement that's used almost exclusively by the parents. I'd used a towel destined for the washing machine to wipe up in there before, and I'd given it a quick sweep with the vacuum while doing my bedroom floor, but the bathroom floor had never seen the broom or the mop. Actually, it wasn't too bad, considering. This morning Paul cleaned the shower walls really well, and I did some more work on the glass and the floor, so now our bathroom is the cleanest it's been since we moved in.

Thank goodness that's done! Now I don't have to worry about it for another six months. ;-)

Don't anyone suggest flylady! I'm not a flylady kind of girl. My mother in law likes flylady. One time we were emailing and she said "I have to go--I have a house blessing." Now, my curiosity was piqued. I said, you have houseblessings? In the Orthodox church we do houseblessings, usually after Epiphany--Christ's baptism, where the priest comes and blesses the house with holy water. She says, oh, a house blessing is where you go through the house picking stuff up and putting it away. Oh! Well, there's an alternative definition of a house blessing!

Even though we've only been done with school (hallelujah) for a few days, my housework is already suffering. Ah well, the dirt will still be there after my son is all grown-up. It can wait!

I'm not a fly lady gal, either. She makes you put lace-up shoes on as soon as you get up!

I've taken some bits from the FlyLady theory (I do my dishes in the morning and clean my sink, I do some decluttering from her ideas) but the majority of it overwhelms me.

Anyway, glad you got the bi-annual mopping done. That's how I feel about it. When the kids stick to the floor, it's time to mop.

Giggling at the alternative houseblessing idea. My house gets *really* clean every January. But, Father says that it's the Russian tradition to have the closet doors open, and I've never been that good!

I found your site through Mimi's link. We may know each other from the Orthodox homeschooling group, but its rather hard to know who's who over there.

I'm glad I"m not the only one who doesn't do flylady.

I saw on your profile that you are a Cockburn fan. I love Bruce Cockburn music - especially the older stuff.

I used to be a neat freak, then I had my stroke! My doctor told me I didnt need to clean clean clean!
SO I QUIT!
My house appears clean, but oh those corners.
My closets are so jam packed! I have 5 bedrooms, only two people living in the house, and no room.
You do the math:)
I dont like flylady either. Christina follows her, but she is miss neat and tidy anyway.
Oh, and it was so nice having you as a guest at our house. Im sorry I didnt make more vegan things for Hibi. Zac seemed to enjoy the jungle jim. It was a great party and baptism.
